Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, faculty at Susquehanna University made public comments about Kirk’s death. Members of the public then called on Susquehanna University to punish the faculty. On September 19, ÃÛÖÏãÌÒ wrote Susquehanna University, explaining that the First Amendment protects speech that others might find offensive, poorly timed, tasteless, inappropriate, hateful, or otherwise controversial. We urged Susquehanna University to protect the free speech rights of all its faculty members and students, regardless of viewpoint or content expressed.
