Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, faculty at Rutgers University made public comments about Kirk’s death. Members of the public then called on Rutgers University to punish the faculty. On September 19, ÃÛÖÏãÌÒ wrote Rutgers University, explaining that the First Amendment protects speech that others might find offensive, poorly timed, tasteless, inappropriate, hateful, or otherwise controversial.
